Devin Karambelas - President
Vice President of TV Programming and Operations
Devin Karambelas is the Vice President of TV Programming and Operations at WETA, the PBS station serving the Washington, DC area, and a national producer of public media. Devin oversees programming across five local broadcast channels and sets the monthly programming and promotional priorities for both broadcast and streaming. She also works cross-departmentally to develop programming strategies that support the local production team and WETA as a station.
Previously, Devin was the Senior Programming Manager at GBH in Boston. There, she co-directed programming and multiplatform content strategy across GBH’s local channels and the national nonfiction WORLD Channel. Devin earned her Master of Science in Film, Exhibition and Curation from the University of Edinburgh and her B.A. from the University of Vermont.

Cheryl Nunnley - Secretary
Interim Director of TV
Cheryl Nunnley is the Interim Director of TV at South Carolina Educational TV (SCETV). She has been using TV broadcast to tell the stories of South Carolinians for 18 years as a TV programmer. Cheryl started her career at PBS in 1987 working in Broadcast Traffic, then changing gears to work directly with Producers as a Producer Liaison in the Technical Operations department. Cheryl moved to SC in 2006 with two young children (Christian and Cayla) where she started her next stage career as the Director of TV Programming. Cheryl loves to relax, serve her community, and is actively involved with her Sorority, Delta Sigma Theta. She is a grandmother of one, (Chloe) and grandbaby #2 will make his debut in May 2025.

Galen Black
Director of Local Programming
Galen Black has worked in public television for over 26 years and has served in a variety of roles. He began his career as a student at UNC Chapel Hill working at the studios of PBS North Carolina which were on campus at the time. After college he continued as a production assistant working in a variety of studio and remote production roles — director, technical director, assistant director, graphics designer, camera operator, etc. After living in California for 10 years, Galen returned to PBS North Carolina as the managing editor of their nightly program NC Now. He then took on the role of Director of Internal Productions, overseeing the production of local content for broadcast and digital platforms. For the last four years, Galen has served as the Director of Local Programming, focusing on local acquisition and distribution strategy.

Lisa Tipton
Head of Programming and Pledge
Lisa Tipton is Head of Programming at WTTW in Chicago. She has been with WTTW since 1997, beginning in production and transitioning to programming and traffic in 2003. She has been working on the broadcast schedule for 20 years. Lisa now heads up programming, traffic, national syndication, and the archive team at WTTW and serves on the leadership team at her station.
In 2024, she will join the Programming Advisory Committee, working to represent station voices with the PBS GA team. Lisa has been an active volunteer working with the PTPA Board, serving the last two years on the Meeting Planning Committee that plans and produces the PTPA virtual and in-person meetings. She has produced and moderated sessions for the PTPA community and hopes to be able to collaborate and participate even more as a full member of the board.

Emily Abi-Kheirs
Programming Manager
Emily Abi-Kheirs (she/they) is a nonfiction programmer and independent producer based in the Greater Boston area. She serves as Programming Manager at GBH and as Program Director at Salem Film Fest, a filmmaker-centric documentary festival in Massachusetts. Beginning her career at WORLD Channel and later Women Make Movies, Emily has remained committed to amplifying historically excluded voices through film programming and distribution. They have been recognized as a leader in the documentary field by the Rockwood Leadership Institute (2024) and DOC NYC (2022).

Laura Durham - Vice President
Director of Programming and Community Engagement
Laura Durham is the Director of Programming and Community Engagement for PBS Utah. In addition to overseeing the on-air schedule for PBS Utah’s four channels, she connects Utahns by curating projects and planning events that utilize local and national media to entertain and facilitate meaningful dialogue beyond broadcast. She also produces Contact, a nightly interview program hosted by Mary Dickson.
While at PBS Utah, she served as Chair for the Community Engagement Peer Learning Community for NETA (National Educational Telecommunications Association) from 2016 – 2020. Her Book Club in a Box Program won a Public Media Award for local engagement in 2019 and now is entering its sixth year. In 2020, she was appointed by her peers to serve on the PBS Advisory Board as the staff representative.
Prior to her time at PBS Utah, Laura worked at the Utah Division of Arts & Museums managing the visual arts program, and later directing communications, marketing, and public value projects. A dedicated (nerdy) public servant, she served the local community in various capacities with her role as Vice President of the Salt Lake Gallery Association, Program Director for the Salt Lake Gallery Stroll, and as an active member of the Downtown Alliance.
When she’s not working for or watching PBS, she sings alto with Utah Chamber Artists – a professional choir based in Salt Lake City. She is a published writer having written regularly for 15 Bytes – Utah’s Art Magazine. She read her essay on grace for NPR’s The Bob Edwards Show, originally written for This I Believe. Laura lives in Salt Lake City and lives for her work and passions.

Betsy Braun
Director of Programming
Betsy Braun is currently the Director of Programming at WHYY in Philadelphia, having pivoted to Public Television in January of 2022. She is a multi-faceted programming executive with a background in program scheduling, production, research, and marketing at the local and national levels. Betsy spent her earlier career in commercial television between New York and Los Angeles, overseeing nationally syndicated TV shows, program scheduling for local TV stations nationwide, and providing audience research analysis for local TV stations and national production companies.
Before joining WHYY, Betsy was the Director of Programming and Communications for WCVB and WMUR, the Hearst ABC affiliates in Boston and New Hampshire, where she was awarded a local Emmy for producing “Holiday Lights,” the City of Boston tree-lighting concert. Earlier in her career, Betsy was an account executive with the Nielsen company, providing training, research analyses, and tools to TV production companies. Betsy began her television career in audience ratings, research, and public relations at WCAU (CBS) in Philadelphia.
Now back in Philadelphia and working for her hometown PBS station, Betsy has brought a unique perspective to public television program scheduling, using analytics and her experience with program marketing, both locally and nationally, to generate audience engagement.

Bill Young
Vice President of Television - KERA
Bill Young is Vice President of Television for KERA, responsible for creating and implementing the monthly television broadcast schedule. By originating innovative programming strategies using PBS network program offerings, locally produced programs and independent program acquisitions, KERA TV has consistently achieved the status of being one of the most-watched PBS stations in the country from sign-on to sign-off over the years.
In addition, Young has sat on a number of PBS advisory panels, including the PBS Children’s Advisory Panel and the Top-20 Market Programmer’s Advisory Group, which helped evaluate and set PBS network programming and policy agendas. He has also been named Programmer of the Year by the Public Television Programmer’s Association in 1994 and 1997. Young writes the daily blog, Tellyspotting, which features all-things British with stories and news about British television and pop-culture that reaches over 50,000 people per month worldwide.

Bradley Thompson
TV, Radio, & Digital Programmer
Bradley has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from Edinboro University in Edinboro, PA with preparations to obtain his Master's degree and Project Management certification. He is currently the Television, Radio, and Digital Programmer at WQLN for Erie County, PA. The area WQLN serves extends into New York state, the state of Ohio, and London, Ontario, Canada. During his time at WQLN, Bradley had increased the reach of the station three times the national average for PBS and raised broadcast viewership significantly. He is an excellent collaborator and communicator that loves to work with others in order to serve his audience to the best of his abilities. Bradley has a black belt in Lean and Six Sigma, he is a graduate of the Jefferson Educational Society's Civic Leadership Academy, a Jefferson Education Society Raimy Fellow, a sitting member of the PBS Programming Advisory Council, a member of the PTPA from the beginning of his career at WQLN PBS, a member of the Pennsylvania Programming Group, has started a group for Canadian border stations in the same vein of collaboration and sharing content, and volunteers for various organizations around his community. Bradley looks forward to the opportunity to serve the larger PBS ecosystem on the Board of Directors for the PTPA. In his free time, Bradley teaches Multigeneration Leadership through multiple organizations and English as a second language. He also writes film scripts and short stories and enjoys hiking and kayaking with his wife.
